Eindhoven is known as the City of Light. Many people think this is because Philips produced the first light bulb here in the late nineteenth century, but this nickname originated even before that because of the match factory present. Eindhoven has always played an important role in industry, due to large companies such as Philips, ASML, VDL and DAF. Anno 2024, Eindhoven is a vibrant city where there is plenty to do. The ideal destination for a city trip. Especially in the fall when the Lichtjesroute, Dutch Design Week and GLOW light art festival are on the events calendar.

Boutique stores can be found on the atmospheric Kleine Berg, among other places. The art lover is sure to visit the Van Abbemuseum, a leading museum of modern art.
